Hi again, it's so nice to be back in the crafty groove again. Inspiration is all around us and it can be used to create some wonderful pieces. It comes from nature, events, things and even the people we encounter.

Memory Maze Designs Last Pot

Working with the Memory Maze Design team has been wonderful. This is due to the talented people on the team and the great products that Memory Maze Designs has. So here is my last post and even though it has been fun, I am feeling a bit sad that it has come to an end but I do have other exciting adventures to look forward to!
My grandsons are both so gorgeous but then I probably am a bit bias!
I left the map as raw chipboard and used marker pens to colour in the letters and scribbled around the edge of the map to create a waters edge. The plain background was decorated using the Memory Maze mask and Distress Paint. When it dried I moved the mask slightly off the paint and sprayed again with Glimmermist in "denim," which is similar in colour to the background so it ended up with a slight watercolour effect. The distress look on the bottom of the layout was achieved by turning the mask over when I had painted the top part of the page then pushing down to press the paint and ink onto the cardstock.

I made this as a 2 page layout because as usual I have lots of photos I wanted to use. I tied the two layouts together by using the same mix and match papers and colours.

The red is marker pen, the white and blue is Smooch in azure and moonlight with illuminate over the red. When it all dried it was coated with Dimensional Magic.

I used the negative from "beachboys" and saved the letters for another project. It was then sprayed with glimmermist in sapphire.

Other products used
Bazzil cardstock, Paper Inklings-Australia Day & Aussie Flag, corrugated card.
It is always an exciting time of year when the children or grandchildren go back to school...especially for the parents!

Marker pens are so versatile and easy to use on detailed pieces of chipboard because you can direct where you want the colour to go. I coated the title itself with Dimensional magic so it would be glossy and stand out from the books.

The arrow was painted with Smooch in lettuce, the frame with Distress Stain in black soot and the zig zag was covered in paper and inked along the edges.

The 2 stars with coated with Distress Stain in brushed pewter and layered with foam dots to adhere them to the layout.

Arrow (set)   LO199
Stars (pinked star set)   LO263
Zig Zag
Other products

Be Inspired

So today I have some inspiration from Archiscraps so have a go and jump on their blogspot for a bit of fun.
Here is the picture for February with the additional criteria of "travel"
Here is my take on the picture. I used the pocket page protectors to give the block effect and my travel was to the Devil's Marbles in the Northern Territory in Australia.
This was January's picture with the added criteria of music.
The peaks of the Opera House were reflected in the curves of the doiley mat and the punched edge along the bottom. My neice is very musically talented and her 18th birthday party was musically themed.

Happy Scrapping and enjoy your day....

Hello again everyone. It's that time of year where we have a sigh of relief that the Christmas madness is over and then comes along "back to school" madness!! January is all about Celebrations and my layouts are all about birthday celebrations.
This is a double layout that I made and I wanted it to have the clean and simple look about it then using the chipboard pieces as the main feature .

The swirls was undercoated in a cream acrylic paint and when dry, Plaid glitter paint was applied over the top. The words were sprayed in purple spray mist.

The speech bubble was coated with Distress Stain in Black Soot and the words were painted with Plaid glitter paint......quick, easy and effective.

The star frame was cut in half then coated in Distress Crackle Paint in Brushed Pewter. The small star was painted with Plaid glitter paint.
Thank Heavens for Little Boys   GO248
Pinked Star Frame (set)   LO263
Speech Bubble (set)
Birthday Party   CO123
My niece is now 21 so I thought I should really catch up a bit with her 18th birthday photos!
This layout is a bit "girly grunge" and it was good that I can alter the chipboard to suit the colours that I wanted.

The swirl and the 18th were both sprayed with purple mist. The 18th then had a light spray of gold over it to make it sparkle.

This heart arrow was simply sprayed with pink glimmermist. I also used this colour to colour the white flowers so they would all match.
Sometimes when life becomes a bit hectic, layouts can become simple and easy to make without stressing out about not finishing anything. So have fun and play.....

Happy New Year

Wishing you all a happy and blessed 2014. Now for some fun!
My niece is adorable so I wanted to make this layout for her with bright colourful embellishments and paper.

The word and the butterflies were painted with Smooch in taffy, sassy pink, grape soda, sugarberry, pool and top coated with Smooch in illuminate to give them a shimmery finish.

The banner was covered in paper and the edges were inked. Twine was glued to the top of the banner.

Other Products
Bazzill white swiss dots, twine, flowers, handmade flower, Bella swirl, resin embellishment, washi tape, patterned paper.
For this double layout I cut the cog frame in half on the diagonal. If you find double layouts difficult to make, try imagining them as one big page to have a nice balance to them.

The arrows were painted with Distress Stain in Brushed Pewter then Distress Stickles in Gunmetal was applied over the top. The bike riders were coated with Distress Stain in Black Soot.

The cogs were painted with Distress Stain in Brushed Pewter and the edges dabbed with Distress Stain in Black Soot.

The title matched this layout perfectly. It was base coated with Radiant Rain in Yellow Rose. The word dirt had Distress Stickles in Vintage Photo smeared over it. The other words had Smooch in gold painted on them.

The frame was base coated with Distress Stain in brushed pewter then texture paste was applied over a mask to give it raised texture. I then dabbed distress stain in  green and copper onto a craft mat and rubbed the stain onto the frame and raised parts using my finger. Messy but fun!
