Christmas In July

I know it's not really Christmas but a lot of people like any excuse for a party and will celebrate. Here are a couple of Christmas layouts. It could be a good time to catch up on any scrapbook pages from last Christmas that weren't completed yet. Or if you are really organised you can get started on this Christmas's cards!! A quick way to achieve this is to have a production line/mix and match system with the card, paper and embellishments. This takes the guess work out of trying to come up with a lot of different designs.
The poinsettia embellishments in these layouts were made by cutting out patterned paper, then layering the flowers and topping them with clear acrylic flowers from "Kutalicious" and these were coloured using alcohol inks.

Inspiration for July
Memory Maze

"Kutalicious" is a Queensland local company that produces acrylic embellishments. Their range includes words, shapes, numbers in clear, white, black or mirrored acrylic.
"Memory Maze" is also another local company specializing in chipboard of a very high quality. Heart & Soul stocks both these company's products so come and have a look at our range and how these products can be used in your cardmaking, layouts and crafts.

Warm hands, warm Heart

What better way to spend a cool winter's day than to be scrapbooking/crafting. It's nice to have a break and have a warm drink in the winter sun to warm yourself inside and out. Catch up on your photo sorting, work out layouts you would like to do and finish all those projects you started and didn't quite finish. I know I always have at least 3 or 4 things on the go with more in mind!
This lovely Kaiser mannequin was painted black and when it was dry, Kaiser black gem strips were adhered to the skirt section. Black sequins and black tulle were used to make the bodice. Roses of different sizes were adhered on the stand and neckline. The wings were made from Kaiser silk flowers folded in half with small silver fans on the fold. These were then glued on using a strong tacky glue. There are so many variations that can be used to make this mannequin the best dressed in town! Have a go and use your imagination and your scrap/craft stash.

COMING SOON!

There are a couple of more pages on the Heart & Soul blog. The first one is called "What's New" and it will have information about new products in store and reviews about products in general. The other page is "Challenges" and this will give you ideas and inspirational things to try. They will be up and running in the next couple of days. Have fun with this and feel free to leave comments, ideas and any questions you might have.

Sketches & colour ideas

Here are a few more inspirational ideas. I love all the flowers and it inspires me to create some more layouts. With our renovations nearly finished I have more time to play! These layouts don't have to be girly and flowery. By choosing more masuline papers & embellishments they can be adapted to the males in your life. Choose the papers & embellishments to suit the theme of your photos. Be adventurous and try using mediums such as texture paste, gesso, paints & sprays on your layouts for a different finish. If you are unsure about making a whole layout then try these products by making a card first or even on a tag that can be used on your layout. Have fun & play!!

May is for Mothers

May is a wonderful month to  treasure our mothers and carers, the people who nuture us and love us. Remember to tell them how much they mean to you. A handmade card is a real treat to any mum from a kid of any age! I have a box where I keep all my cards with special meaning to me and I scrapbook some as well. It's handy to have a few cards already made for the special occasions that happen throughout the year so have a card making day to get organised.
This month in our classes we are paying tribute to our mothers with cards and scrapbook layouts especially for them. Look out for these posts soon! Layouts of mums can be fun & bright & full of flowers & bling or older photos can be used to create a heritage, classical layout. Take cues from your photos to determine what sort of layout you want to create. Have a wonderful Mothers day.
